Phil and I have been talking lately about a Family vacation. We really want to take Shane to Disney world. We all really need a vacation.
I haven't been anywhere since our honeymoons. We took 2 honeymoons. We went on a 7 day Eastern Caribbean Cruise and then went to Las Vegas for a few days a month after our cruise. Phil was lucky enough to have the opportunity a couple months ago to go to Arizona for 3 days but we haven't been on Vacation with Shane yet.
I think we both agree that, next year when Shane will be 3, we want to take him to Disney World. I think all kids should have the opportunity to go to Disney World. I know he would love seeing Mickey Mouse, the other Disney characters and riding the kiddie rides. Disney would be so entertaining and fun for him and would give all of us some really great memories of our first family vacation.
Phil and I have been looking online at the different Disney World Packages. There are so many packages to chose from we have had a hard time deciding. We like that you can get Packages that include not only Disney World but Sea World and universal Orlando and that you can design a package based on how many days you want to spend at Disney World.
We are looking forward to booking a Disney vacation in the very near future. We haven't picked an exact package yet but know we would like to spend at least 5 days there and the package must include Sea World.
Have any of you been to Disney?

I highly recommend that you book through Disney! We booked through Disney and had to do a last minute cancel. (I talking the-day-before cancel!) When I called it was NO problem cancelling and they rebooked with no questions or fees!!
ReplyDeleteI also recommend the meal plans at Disney. You'll save money AND you can make reservations so that you won't have to wait to be seated.
Have a great time!
We had a huge family vacation there and loved it. I was so impressed with how wonderful everything was, how clean, etc. I would check into what different restaurants are before booking. We went to a french restaurant in epcot and ended up missing the entire fireworks show becuase, although it was on the water, there were no windows! We also went to the aquarium restaurant which was a BIG let down. Stay away from the packages that offer big "wishes". they really arent that big of a deal. Character breakfasts/meals are a MUST! and so is fast pass!! You'll love it!!
ReplyDeleteI live literally 10 minutes from Disney (we can see the Magic Kingdom's fireworks from my street). We take the kids pretty much every weekend. Both of the kids love it, but my 18 month old absolutely adores Mickey and gets excited whenever we get to a park and he spots anything "MICKEEEEE MOUUUUUUSE!"
ReplyDeleteIf you need any insider local tips, I'd be happy to share!:)
Oh...and just my personal opinion...but I'd stick with just Disney for your first trip. While there's a lot to see at Sea World, your son wouldn't be able to go on any of the rides (and you can see the park in under 3 hours, which makes the almost $80 1 day ticket ridiculous) and Universal/IOA doesn't have a ton to offer for toddlers, either.
ReplyDeleteI love Disney! We took my son in February, when he had just turned two. It was really fantastic, and we will be going again next year when he turns 3. Definitely ask Steph for some questions, she is the expert!
ReplyDeletewe just got back on Sunday from Disney. I love it of course! I would also book through Disney. You can get some great deals and it is so nice staying at a Disney resort. Go for the meal plan too!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your input. steph I'll be e-mailing you when we are ready to book!
ReplyDeleteWe haven't been to Disney but talk about going all the time. My hubby and I are taking a cruise next week actually and we are so excited. We haven't been on one in 7 years. Work, kids and life just kept us busy, busy. The kids are going to their grandparents who are taking them camping so everyone is going to have a blast.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Steph about Sea World. I used to live near Disney in Florida, and went there with my teenage niece and her family. The only thing I enjoyed was the dolphin touching experience. The aquarium was a huge disappointment. Shamu was okay. Disney was great, though. I really liked that. I only went to the Magic Kingdom, but it was really fun and there was a lot to see and do. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteThat's so funny! I just wrote a post about Disney on my blog today! :-)
ReplyDeleteYou are going to have so much fun when you go!! Shane is going to loooooove it! Since we are going there in July I will keep note of prices and such. I will also talk to my friend who goes there all the time with her kids, she is full of information =) I heard that staying on the resort is good and you can get discounts on the dining plan. Which stuffed Disney character should we bring back for Shane? Mickey Mouse?? =)
ReplyDeleteXoXo's
Thank you for taking the time to stop in and check out my blog. It is great that you are thinking of going to Disneyworld. We went a few years ago and I have to tell you I have been trying to get back ever sense. :)
ReplyDeleteCheck out my giveaway only a few days left and then its over but its a dress and its super cute. :)
We just booked a 7 day vacation to Disney for this September and got a great deal through Disney's website. They are currently offering a free dining plan - with our stay at the All Star Movies Resort we only got the quick service (all counter style - no sit down restaurants) dining plan included, but we upgraded to the regular dining plan and it's still way more affordable than I expected. The best part is that you can use your sit down meals for the character meals, which saves tons of money. The free dining is available for stays from sometime res August through October 2. (the regular dining plan is included with stays at the "moderate" level resorts, but even with the upgrade we did, the value resorts were still quite a bit cheaper - I figured how much are we going to be in our room anyway, and besides my kids are going to go nuts when they see the huge statues of Buzz Lightyear and Woody at the hotel.
ReplyDeleteI researched a lot by reading books about going to Disney (and the rest of the Orlando area) with kids, and originally I wanted to do Universal Orlando and Sea World too. In the end, I decided to save those trips for a later time. My kids will be 4 and 2 at the time we go, and there isn't enough for them to do to justify the price tag - particularly at Universal. I decided to just focus on Disney this time and maybe next time we'll hit the other places. Good luck!
Disney is a great vacation for both kids and parents! Especially when the weather is nice. thanks for following my blog! I've been a follower here for a little while and really enjoy your photography!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! I was in the fourth grade the last time I went to Disney and it's safe to say that I'm due for another visit. We want to wait until our youngest is 3 also so we've got a couple more years.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my place. I'm following you via Google Friend Connect now! Have a great weekend.

For two straight weeks, I am staying in a vacation apartment rentals (New York City). My company are working on a new campaign and hopefully we will be able to launch it next week. During coffee break, my son called me and asked me where I would take him for his birthday. I was planning to take him to Sea World. But then again, I remember the last time we watched tv together, he was laughing his heart out with donald duck's clumsiness. So I decided, I'll take him to Disney world instead. Thankfully, the place where I am staying has a fast wi-fi broadband connection. I was able to booked for our trip and get amazing food packages too. I can't wait to bond with my little boy again! Well, you guys have fun with your disney adventure, too!
