1 YEAR AGO TODAY

My 16 year old SIL Died in a car crash.

HERE is the video of what happened. Neither party was ticketed or blamed. It was just a freak accident.

I do want to mention she was adopted by my husbands dad and step mom at 6 months old. In my husbands eyes and mine she was biological. We didn't treat her any different.

Just to think about it make me sick to my stomach. She was an amazing person. Very mature for her age.

What hurts the most is Shane won't have his own memories of her.
She Loved her NEPHEW. I remember how excited she was when we told her I was pregnant. At holidays that year she wouldn't even eat with us, she said she would rather sit in the living room and take care of Shane and that's what she did. Two weeks before she died she was here for Shane's 1st Birthday party.

I hurt most for Shane. I don't have any siblings and my husband has a brother but he has chosen to be not very involved with his nephew. Never a call or e-mail or card for Shane on x-mas or birthdays. you know the type.

I took the last picture of Stephanie. Here she is in our basement at Shane's first b-day.

I don't know if I'll ever get over her death. I know she won't be forgotten ever. We talk to shane about her all the time. He will even tell you who she is if you show him a picture.

If you get a minute today tell the people that matter most you love them. You never know when you'll lose that opportunity.

  4. I'm so sorry for your loss. This will always be a hard day, 14 years after the death of my best friend, I still have to pause on the day of her birth and the day of her death to pull myself back together and remind myself to remember her with a smile not with tears.

I live in Livonia but I have family out that way. I know that driving to some of those areas can be a little scary.

Hopefully they will address the issue of that light so another family doesn't have to lose someone too. My prayers are with you to ease your heart and comfort you.

  20. I am sorry that happened. I have been writing of loss and sickness lately and it just makes you realize that you need to spend as much time with family as possible. They are what matter most. Not money or your job, family.

  23. What a lovely young lady:)
The one year anniversary is always a tough one...you appear to be the kinda of person who can sit back and remember the wonderful things you shared and can be thankful for the opportunity to have had her in your life--shorter than you ever expected, but still she made a difference in who you are today:) Hugs
