Birthday, Doctors appointment and Rant

Yesterday was my birthday. We had a very nice relaxing day. Phil took the day off work to spend some extra time with Shane and I. later in the evening we went to Mexican town for dinner. It was a great day.

We did have to take Shane into the doctor because he has had a fever for a few days. They ran a strep test. NEGATIVE. They looked in his ears for an ear infection NEGATIVE. She said it could be a virus but more than likely he is teething. Apparently those eye teeth can be pretty tough. She also told me Shane is a "prodigy". I wouldn't call him that but he is very advanced. He identified every letter and its sound to the doctor as well as some of his numbers. He is also very socially advanced according to her. HERE is the video I took two months ago when he had half his letters down. I will be posting a new one soon with all the letters.

This is funny to me because when my son was born I was unable to breastfeed. A certain person made rude comments and gave me a hard time about it. Just proof that although it might be good for you to breastfeed your kid there is nothing wrong with formula.
I'd like to see a video of her kid identifying the entire alphabet before the age of two. Maybe her breast milk wasn't as great as she thought. ROTFL


Shane is well taken care of and rarely sick. He has had 2 fevers his whole life, never had an ear infection or strep throat or anything else other than his reflux which is much better. So having a fever for a few days freaked me out but teething can do that.

I am sure some of you moms have some teething stories.

So my birthday was great. We also RSVP'd for my husbands cousins wedding. So cool because the couple ( Phils friend and his cousin) met at our wedding and are now getting married. The whole family was INVITED and will be there.

Nosefrida Review and Giveaway

I have been lucky that my kid is not sick very often. In fact other than his reflux ( which is a condition he was born with) and 2 viruses he has been healthy as can be.
He has had runny noses when he was teething and he hates those bulb aspirators.

Now he blows his nose pretty well but sometimes it seems as if he still hasn't gotten all the snot out. I was searching the internet and came across a product called Nosefrida. It seemed a little weird at first but I was interested as I thought it might help shane get out the left over mucus. So I contacted Nosefrida who kindly offered me a nosefrida to review.



We tried it last night and it worked great. The part that goes up to your child's nose only touches the tip of the nose to form a seal. So its not uncomfortable for your child because it doesn't actually go up the nose the way the Bulb kind does. You just suck into a tube and out comes snot. Don't worry there is a filter in between and no snot comes near your mouth.

I works great and caused no uncomfortably to my son the way the bulb kind did.

Tie Buddies review and Giveaway

Today I received in the mail a great product that was designed to help kids learn to tie their shoes. Tie Buddies are cute little plastic tabs with pictures on them that are designed to fit on shoe strings and act as easy pull-tabs for small hands, taking messy loops out of the equation. The happy characters make a game of it, resulting in a strong knot and even stronger recall.




I am so excited to use these on shane's shoes. Pretty soon he will be ready to tie his own shoes and I know Tie Buddies will help him learn how to much quicker with less frustration.

As most of you know my son is turning 2 and we are starting potty training. I was a little worried about what we were going to do if we were out and Shane needed to go potty. I didn't want to have to lug around those hard portable bulky seats. Then I found a wonderful product called On-The-Go Inflatable Potty Seats.




This product is great. It's a blow up potty with tons of great features. It inflates and deflates fast, has a built in back rest support, handles on the side for safety, it even has a stabilization ring on the bottom to hold the potty seat on the toilet.

The only thing that would concern me is making sure the inflate valve is sanitized after every time it is used because it can touch part of the toilet it is sitting on. My idea would be to carry along some alcohol wipes and wipe it down.

Overall this is a fantastic product. It's great to have for outings or even to keep at aunts, uncles, and grandmas house.

I don't know if I have a favorite dessert but lately I have really enjoyed a piece of quality milk chocolate.



What was the worst haircut that you ever received?
Ha...I was like 11 or 12 and I took a magazine to the salon so she could give me the same cut as the girl in the magazine but that girl had a completely different head shape and so on me the cut looked awful.


Would you eventually like to go back to teaching in Elementary school? Miss it?
I only student taught because I have not been able to find a job since I graduated but yes I miss it. The kids always made my day and I really enjoyed teaching. I am now trying to get a teaching job in Arizona. Keep your fingers crossed for me.


Are you more of a talker or a listener?
Talker...I'm very outgoing in person and have no problem speaking my mind :)


How much did you weigh at birth?

Seven pounds something ounces. I was on time and average size.



What are your hobbies?
Its more than a hobby but I love photography. I also enjoy traveling.


Do you cook? What is your favorite thing to make for dinner?
Yes I cook. I actually love to make all different things but hubby claims his favorite meal I make is my pot roast. Men and meat..lol

I can't believe Shane will be 2 next month. It's nice to know he will have such great pictures to look back on.

Get to know me monday

Most of the time I get my way. I am NOT a push over. I don't let people walk all over or take advantage of me. I speak my mind and I have no problem saying things to people's faces. I really feel that in order to make it sometimes you have to be tough. Now with that said I also have a huge heart. I go out of my way for people I care about. I am very loving, dedicated and supportive. Basically you just don't want to be on my bad side.

He's Back

Hubby is home from Arizona. I was really excited to pick him up last night. I did not enjoy sitting in a line at the airport for 35 minutes but It was so great to see him.
Hubby and I are like Peas and carrots...lol Really we do almost everything together and when your together all the time 3 days is a long time to be away from someone.

He enjoyed Arizona, got a lot accomplished and we hope to be there soon.

Left on a Jet Plane & arrived to a Mustang

I want to apologize for not posting so far this week. My husband got an Opportunity to take vacation from work today and tomorrow and go to Arizona. So he left this morning on a Plane and will be back Saturday night. (I miss him tons but am excited he has the chance to check our future home state.) So far he loves it, I knew he would.

This trip was last minute. He got vacation approval Monday so I have been busy helping him plan and pack all week.

He is now driving around Arizona in This. He does lots of business with Hertz at his work so they gave him a killer deal on a rent a car and the hotel even upgraded him to a suite as well.
